President, Colorado Farm Bureau
Don Shawcroft is a fourth generation rancher from Conejos county, Colorado. Don is the President of Colorado Farm Bureau where his leadership experience started in 1986, serving as the CFB Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee Chair.
Shawcroft served on the Colorado Farm Bureau Board of Directors and Colorado Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Board of Directors from 1988 to 1997. He was then elected as Vice President in 2000 and served in that capacity until being elected President in 2010.
In his capacity as president, Don also serves on the Board of Directors of the Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company as well as on the Board of Farm Bureau Bank, American Farm Bureau Insurance Services and the American Ag Insurance Company.
Don was elected to the American Farm Bureau Board in 2013 where he along with four other western state Farm Bureau presidents, represent the 13 western states.
Don has previously served agriculture as the Chairman of the Board for the United States Animal Identification Organization, as Chairman of the Colorado Ag Water Alliance and currently as a Director for the Mountain States Legal Foundation.
Back home in the valley, in addition to managing the family ranching operation, Don serves on the Board of the Colorado Choice Health Plans and San Luis Valley Health as well as being active in his church. He and his wife Ann are the proud parents of six, grandparents of nine, with a son and son-in-law currently working on the ranch.
Don has a passion for farming and ranching as well as a commitment to Colorado Farm Bureau and this state’s agricultural industry.
